September Wine Festival on the banks of the Danube - - - - $895 per person (airfare excluded). 6 days/5 nights at a restored palace - Le Meridien - Hungary's newest 5-star hotel.

Itinerary:

Day 1:

Arrival at Budapest for the wine festival - a very special event on our annual calendar. Greeting at the House of Hungarian Wines. Wine auction. Dinner with surprises at a medieval restaurant in the Castle district.

2nd Day:

An exhibition of Hungarian wines at Vörösmarty Square: pavilions featuring Hungary's foremost wine-districts. Free time in the downtown area followed by lunch. Sight-seeing in Budapest, a city of rich historical themes and European Architecture.

Dinner at a cosy restaurant on the Buda side of the city. Danube Legend - evening boat ride where the Danube tells you the story of the illuminated sights of the town along with a film, which gives insight into the historical monuments.

3rd Day:

Eger (120km). Refreshments with a surprise in the city of heroes, which every Hungarian visits at least once.

Szilvásvárad (40km)- lovely village with natural beauties and Lippizan horses at the gate of the National Park of Bükk. Trout barbecue on the banks of the Szalajka Stream.

Visit to a former noble wine-cellar in Noszvaj. Night stop in Eger.

4th Day:

Travel across the highest 'mountain' of Hungary, the 'Mátra', to Gyöngyös , the centre of the Mátra wine-district. Return to Budapest. Walk or take a 'unique' cycle ride on tandems (up to five people) on Margaret Island, the 'pearl of the city'. Lunch under the shade of beautiful trees. Relax at the hotel. Dinner with chamber music/ concert.

5th Day:

Visit to the Buda Castle, in a festive atmosphere. Szentendre (30km) - travel to the gate of the Danube bend. Visit to 'skanzen' (village museum). An unforgettable lunch in one of Hungary's quaintest towns. Relax at the hotel .

Farewell 'wines and flavours' dinner with famous wines and culinary delights.

6th Day:

Departure - We wish you a pleasant trip and hope to see you soon!
